ECLIPSE

Eclipse is a fantasy-realism film about 7 teenagers trapped in their grandmother’s home as war breaks out in Iran, including sisters Roya and Atefeh who are desperate to escape. Tensions arise as the oldest of the group, Elaheh, turns a deaf ear to dissent and instead instructs everyone to stay together in the home. As the situation around them worsens, thanks to the arrival of government soldiers who threaten and terrorize the trapped teens, a ‘Yellowjackets’ atmosphere takes hold. Traumatized by the situation, the cousins each experience fantastical moments, similar to Guillermo Del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth, which allows them to find an escape from a world that is collapsing all around them as they make impossible decisions, with real-life consequences, in the name of survival.
